Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has announced to contest the Senate elections from the seat of technocrat while withdrawing his nomination papers from general seat. Dar filed his nomination papers for both the general as well as technocrat seats. However, he withdrew his nomination papers from the general seat.

It may be noted that February 19 was the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers for Senate elections.
